Alexander Volkanovski defended his featherweight title at the main event of UFC 266 against Brian Ortega, what people describe as the possible fight of the year, Volkanovski believes it’s about time people put some respect to his name.
Volkanovski dominated Ortega both on feet as well as on the ground, he battered Ortega with his punches and broke him with his ferocious ground and pound. After all, was said and done, Volkanovski got his hand raised after five dominant rounds, and once again proved why he’s the champ.
At the post-fight interview, Daniel Cormier asked him about the same, Volkanovski took the mic, and put the entire division on notice, he said, “About fu**king time keep doubting me I love it. I don’t care I’ll just be an underdog till the day I die that’s just gonna make me work harder. Everyone back home I love you muahh.”
Volkanovski was questioned for his two controversial decision victories over the former champion Max Holloway, and with this one in the big Volkanovski extended his winning streak to 20 straight fights.

Ortega is known for his excellent Jiu-Jitsu skills, he was getting beaten by Alex but he managed to secure 3 tight chokes during the fight, the first two came in the 3rd round, and the last one came in 4th. During the last choke, Alex gave a thumbs up to the referee to let him know that he was fine.
This victory cemented him as one of the best featherweights on this planet, and there is no doubt that he will now face the winner of the Max Holloway vs Yair Rodriguez match. No matter who he faces next, now we know for sure that he will put up one hell of a performance.
