Deiveson Figueiredo, Askar Askarov and Brandon Moreno
Askar Askarov wants a piece of Brandon Moreno. ‘The Assassin Baby’ won the flyweight title after beating Deiveson Figueiredo via. submission in the second round of their co-main event at UFC 263. The fight was the rematch of their war at UFC 256 in December 2020 which ended in a draw.
More recently, Askar Askarov took to Twitter to call out Brandon Moreno for a title fight, asking him to run back their brutal war (draw) two years ago. He also mentioned Figueiredo, asking him to stay quiet, since he was next in line. The Russian also tagged Dana White, Mick Maynard, Ali Abdelaziz and others.
“Stop talking a lot, get in line” – Askar Askarov to Deiveson Figueiredo
Askarov wrote, “@Daico_Deiveson stop talking a lot, get in line. I’m next. @theassassinbaby defend your belt with a real challenger, I’ll see you in December.”
The last time Askarov and Moreno met, was September 21, 2019. In fact, it was Askarov’s UFC debut, and the match ended in a split decision draw. The pair have never run back their fight after that. Askarov’s record currently stands at 14 wins, 0 losses and 1 draw.
Moreno, on the other hand, fought twice in quick succession following his draw against Askarov. The Mexican beat Kai Kara-France and Jussier Formiga to earn a probable title contender match against Brandon Royval at UFC 255. Following his TKO win over Royval, he earned a title shot against Figueiredo. The first match ended in a draw, and Moreno emerged victorious in the second one, eventually winning the title as well.
As for Figueiredo, he will also be looking for a rematch – a trilogy bout against Moreno. It is going to be some interesting times ahead for the flyweight division.
