In the UFC, fighters suffering a loss are not frowned upon. Contenders who go on a long winning streak tend to face adversity and have a loss on their record later on. Suffering a loss can either encourage a fighter or demotivate them. Despite a minority being responsible for the backlash, the scrutiny received is not unbearable in the case of a lot of fighters.

Beneil Dariush is a lightweight fighter climbing the ranks in the UFC roster. Known for his roots in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, ‘Benny’ had quickly developed quite the abilities in striking. Throughout his career, the Assyrian fighter had also faced losses in the octagon. Possessing four losses in his professional record, let’s check out the defeats he faced in his career.

UFC Fight Night 39 was not an unfortunate event for Beneil Dariush. A UFC career did not seem promising for the Assyrian fighter. The fighter suffered a devastating TKO loss against Ramsey Nijem first round of the bout. Despite showing a good performance against ‘Benny,’ Nijem failed to deliver a promising career and eventually quit the UFC.

Despite having a calm demeanor entering the octagon, Dariush quickly faced adversity. Ramsey Nijem did not hold back and was quickly on the offensive. As ‘Benny’ failed to keep up with the pace of his opponent, the referee ended the fight due to the brutal ground and pound he faced at the end of the first round.

Since his first loss against Ramsey Nijem, Beneil Dariush had an impressive win streak. Emerging victorious against notable contenders like Michael Johnson and Jim Miller. However, this would come to an end as ‘Benny’ faced Michael Chiesa at UFC on FOX 19. The event held in 2016 would mark the Assyrian fighter’s second loss in his professional career.

The first round was a success for Dariush as he managed to trade shots with Chiesa. ‘Benny’ managed to hurt his opponent and get a successful takedown. However, the demise of the Assyrian fighter in the bout came in the second round. Chiesa took down Beneil and won via a second-round submission victory.

UFC fighter Edson Barboza is one of the most popular fighters of all time. Having notable wins over Anthony Pettis and Gilbert Melendez, the fighter was set to take on Beneil Dariush. ‘Benny’ had won two fights since his loss against Michael Chiesa and was set to emerge victorious over Barboza. However, the result did not favor fans of the Assyrian fighter.

The fight against Edson Barboza had a successful start for Beneil Dariush. ‘Benny’ landed significant shots and managed to look dominant throughout the first round. However, in the second round, the Assyrian fighter received a brutal hit to the groin. This unfortunate hit saw a decline in the fight for Dariush. Despite performing relatively well, Barboza delivered an impressive flying knee that knocked him out.

Beneil Dariush’s latest loss against Alexander Hernandez

Dariush’s career seemed like it was at the tail end following the brutal loss against Edson Barboza. The fighter’s match-up against Evan Dunham being a draw, Beneil’s career in the UFC was not promising. This would become evident at the UFC 222 event. ‘Benny’ took on Alexander Hernandez in the lightweight division and failed to overcome adversity.

In the very first round, Hernandez came out hot and heavy. Beneil Dariush failed to keep up with the brutal pace and got knocked out 42 seconds into the first round. However, the brutal loss did not meet the end of his career. Since then, the Assyrian fighter has been on a win streak emerging victorious against fighters like Tony Ferguson and Mateusz Gamrot.
