“Tony Ferguson is the real f***ing deal”- UFC legend is impressed by Tony’s will to fight Michael Chandler
Tony Ferguson and Michael Chandler
Tony Ferguson, the former interim Lightweight champion was on one of the longest winning streaks in UFC history before being abruptly put to a halt by Justin Gaethje after which Ferguson went on a 2 fight skid. Ferguson has been rubbed wrongly by former title challenger Michael Chandler as he believes that the latter got the title shot without earning it while Ferguson was on his way to have it again.
Michael Chandler, the former Bellator Lightweight champion, one of the best fighters from his previous promotion, had his first 3 fights in the UFC in 2021 and right into these 3, made a highlight-reel knockout debut, fought for the title where he won the first round that too on Charles Oliveira‘s ground game, before getting finished in the second, and finally delivered a 2021 fight of the year with his war with former UFC interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje.
He called out Conor McGregor for his next bout, but it looks like “El Cucuy” has something else in mind. Chandler was replying to a fan’s comment when Ferguson took notice of it, and their Twitter beef started.
Michael Bisping would like to see Tony Ferguson vs Michael Chandler
Ferguson has had his fair share of top-level contenders. He remained on the top for a very long time, but his recent fights made “The Boogyman” look a little more invincible. Ferguson is never the one to back away from challenges, and UFC legend Michael Bisping respects his guts.
Talking about a possible fight between Chandler and Ferguson, he said, “Ferguson came out the woodwork and said, ‘There’s my b***h Chandler. The brass, Dana White, relayed your message saying that you would be ready for me April/June. Looks like you’re trying to delay that a*s-whooping.’ Then Chandler comes back. He says, ‘Tony there’s only a handful of guys in this game I truly respect… I’ll beat you from bell-to-bell. Pray for a merciful ref. We shall see if this fight happens.’
“Well, there it is. Tony Ferguson-Michael Chandler by the sounds of it, from what Ferguson said… he is like, ‘Sign me up for it.’ I would like to see that fight. You gotta respect this man. He’s on a three-fight losing streak and he’s out there calling out Chandler, who just had a sensational fight with Justin Gaethje. He is not looking for easy fights. Tony Ferguson is the real f***ing deal. Because he knows with great risk, there’s great reward,” Bisping concluded.
