UFC Columbus results: Marc Diakiese fights Viacheslave Borshchev to a backbreaking victory
UFC Fight Night: Marc Diakiese vs Viacheslav Borshchev
Once a lightweight prospect in the UFC, Marc Diakiese (15-5) took head on Viacheslave Borshev (6-1), who was just making his second appearance at the UFC, at UFC Fight Night 205 held in Columbus, Ohio.
Marc and Viacheslave, are both known for their extremely astounding striking techniques. Marc is known for his bold display often accompanied with stunning kicks and spins, whereas Viachelsave takes time to size up to his opponent but is also known for finishing all his fights but one by a knockout.
Round 1: As expected, Diakese took to the octagon by a storm instantaneously in the first round. Immediately taking shots at his opponent, Diakese tried to corner Borshchev against the fences. What followed after that was Borshchev being relentlessly taken down , while being subjected to Diakeiese’s combination of punches, from time to time. Unsurprisingly Borshchev was already on the mat, two minutes in.
Round 2: Round two was no different. Spectators saw Diakese raining Borshchev with punches while trying to take down the latter with a rear waist lock. All throughout, it seemed like Broschev was calculating when to make his move or he was already beat.
Round 3: Round 3 saw a weary Borshchev being subjected to Diakiese’s rear waist lock in a high amplitude takedown. With definitely no sign of dominance through out, Borshchev lost to Diakiese by unanimous decision.
