Conor McGregor is currently healing up following his ankle surgery. The Irishman had suffered an ankle break at UFC 264 during his fight against Dustin Poirier. He and his family are currently in California, with McGregor undergoing recovery. He has taken up residence at the Beverly Hills Hotel which is right next to boxing great Floyd Mayweather’s house.
In a recent Instagram live session, McGregor spoke about breaking into Mayweather’s house since he at least wanted to grab a unique piece that stood in Mayweather’s house. It bears the photo of Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor. The Irishman also revealed that there was no one in the house, except the pool cleaner who comes by every day to clean. However, McGregor was also scared that he might get caught if he tried doing so, and would probably end up losing his visa.
“We’ve actually taken up shop at that Beverly Hills Hotel” – Conor McGregor
McGregor was quoted as saying, “We’ve actually taken up shop at that Beverly Hills Hotel. It’s right next to Floyd’s gaff, he has a gaff he bought right after our fight I’ve been debating breaking into it, go over the back wall. There’s no one in the house, there’s nobody in the gaff. He brought the gaff for $27million or something, and then the property tax. But the gaff is literally just deserted, no-one’s in the thing.” [via Mirror]
He continued, “I’m literally right next door to it. There’s an art piece in the house he bought, it’s me and him, I’m on one side he’s on the other side, it’s like shattered glass. I want to get into the gaff somehow and take the picture out of it. Someone comes by to clean the pool every few days, that’s the only person that goes into it. I just have to roll up there and walk in, but I don’t know what the laws are, I’m not trying to lose a visa here, again.” [via Mirror]
McGregor and Mayweather fought in a professional boxing match back in August 2017. A previously 49-0 retired Mayweather made a one-fight come back to face the Irishman. Mayweather ended up winning the fight via. TKO in the 10th round to take his record to 50-0. He retired following that fight.
Since then Mayweather has fought in two exhibition boxing bouts. The first one was against Tenshin Nasukawa in December 2018, which he won with ease. And the second one was the recent exhibition fight against YouTuber Logan Paul that ended without a result after the stipulated 8 rounds.
Both McGregor and Mayweather made bank that night. It is still McGregor’s highest-ever payday. None of his UFC paydays come close to it.
