The upcoming fight between Dustin Poirier and Charles Oliviera is the title fight of UFC 269 and everyone is psyched for it. Poirier will take on Oliviera for the lightweight division title. The current holder, Oliviera will defend his title after winning it from Micheal Chandler in the UFC 262 on 26 May 2021.

Dustin Poirier is in good form after he defeated Conor McGregor for the second time straight in the UFC 264. The result of the fight was McGregor getting his leg broken and Poirier winning via TKO.

Charles Oliviera has an impressive record of (31-8-0) in the UFC lightweight division and has had an amazing year overall. In his last outing, he took down Micheal Chandler to gain the lightweight division title. He is a fighter of Brazilian origin and represents team Florida.

This year has been great for Poirier too. Two back-to-back victories against someone like Conor McGregor can surely boost your morale. He totally bullied and trumped on McGregor. He is a fighter of American origin and represents the American Top Team.

In a press conference, Dana White commented, “Yeah I mean, some people’s journeys are different than others, you know. Some guys come in and burst on the scene. These two have been grinding and working hard for a very long time. I know he [Poirier] has been criticized for some decisions he made last year. I think every decision he ever made was brilliant. The decisions he made were perfect and he played as he should’ve.”

Talking about Oliveira, White said, “Um this kid has been working his ass off for a long time now. It’s like two blue-collared guys are gonna come in and fight it out on Saturday night.” This fight surely deserves as much hype as it can get. It is Poirier vs Oliviera after all!
