Dana White talks Khamzat Chimaev vs Nate Diaz

Dana White does not understand why Khamzat Chimaev vs Nate Diaz would be a problem.

Khamzat Chimaev has seen a rise to the top unlike no one in the UFC. The fighter is currently on Cloud Nine with the UFC President Dana White hyping him up only four fights into the UFC. Chimaev has also made use of this opportunity and called out UFC superstar Nate Diaz. The bossman believes this fight makes complete sense and Diaz should be up for it and he sees no reason to decline the fight.

Nate recently made a return to the octagon against Leon Edwards and lost the fight via unanimous decision. The fighter despite losing to Edwards has eyed for the welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. Usman is undoubtedly the most dominant fighter in the welterweight division and if Diaz has no problems fighting with him, then the fairly new fighter Chimaev should sound good to Diaz too.

Khamzat has also got a massive pull from the fans and is a favorite already. After his dominant victory at UFC 267, Chimaev broke the internet in Instagram views and has gained a huge fanbase. In a recent interview with BT Sport, Dana spoke about the Stockton fighter and the Chechnyan monster.

In the interview with BT Sport, White recalled a previous interview with Robbie Fox, where the President was accused of feeding the Diaz brother to the wolves with the Chimaev matchup. “I just did an interview with Robbie Fox yesterday and they were like ‘everybody feels like you’re feeding Diaz to the wolves. This guy [Khamzat] has got four fights! Nate has been here for years,” White pointed out.

“Nate was just asking for a Usman fight. THAT would be feeding him to the wolves. Listen Chimaev looks incredible but he has never fought anybody inside the top 10. The last guy he fought was No.11 and he’s never fought anybody in the top five. He’s never been in any of those kinds of fights yet. But if you wanted to fight with Kamaru Usman, you shouldn’t be worried about Khamzat Chimaev,” said White.

Nate Diaz’s response to the UFC President

The UFC superstar is at his last fight on his contract. The fighter has put on some of the most exciting fights in the history of the promotion. With more than 2 of his fights in the Top 10 PPV of all time, Diaz is in a place where he picks his fights and does not end up in the octagon against someone he is not interested in. Diaz is 36 years old and has fought the best fights of his career in the later stages.

There is a very logical reason why Diaz might not want to take on Khamzat. The “Borz” is undeniably a favorite to win the fight if Nate ever took him on. Khamzat has incredible ground game and that is not the kind of fight the Stockton Slugger likes to put on. Diaz put on a story in his Instagram responding to White’s suggestion with a Russel Westbrook meme, “What?? Bro, what are you talking about? bro, I’m out, man.”
