“You just came off a ridiculous, horrible performance!” Dana White slams Paulo Costa asking for better pay after his performance at UFC 253
Dana White and Paulo Costa
The number 2nd ranked UFC Middleweight fighter, Paulo Costa recently pulled out his name from the fight against the number 4th ranked Middleweight fighter, Jared Cannonier, citing issues for better pay.
Jake Paul has also been criticizing the UFC president, Dana White constantly for shitty contracts and paying less amount of money to his fighters. Following this, Paulo Costa claimed that these Youtuber getting tons of money exposed UFC’s pay structure and demanded a handsome amount of money to fight again.
But Dana White thinks Costa isn’t in the right position to demand more money right now as he is coming with a really shitty performance in his last fight against Israel Adesanya.
In his latest interview with TSN, White says, “You’re mad?! You just came off a ridiculous, horrible performance! Comeback, and put yourself in a position to do something big.” {H/T BloodyElbow}
Dana White also repeated the trademark line he used on multiple occasions in the past about fighters not wanting to fight. He added, “I don’t think that’s true, I think he did sign because we extended him, we extended his contract for taking the fight. But listen, don’t fight!”
“I have to offer you three fights a year. This is my situation with all these guys, I offer you three fights a year. He doesn’t have to fight, no problem, don’t fight.” {H/T BloodyElbow}
Dana White suggests Paulo Costa fight out of UFC contract
After withdrawing his name from the fight against Cannonier, Paulo Costa demanded UFC should pay him better to fight as the main event fighter. Costa tweeted earlier,
“UFC needs to pay me as the main fighter to have fighting in main events. Youtubers are showing all disgrace on this business.” He added, “Just to be clear. I never signed or locked up that contract. Why ufc announced this fight if didn’t signed? My question too”
Replying to this in the same interview White says, “You signed a contract, you’re under contract, If that’s the way you feel, you know what I say all the time, we have fights every weekend. If you want to be busy, you can fight every weekend if you want to. Get out of your contract, and go do whatever you want to do.”
Costa further demanded at least 350k with his tweet which says, “Less than 350k is joke”. Dana White continued slamming him and says, “Guess what? You should’ve started a YouTube channel when you were f—king 13 years old and built your name up and everything else and you could’ve had the fight on (Sunday) night.” {H/T Bloody Elbow}
“You’re not a f—king YouTuber, you’re a fighter and this is what you do for a living. Or you don’t, it’s up to you, and you’re in no position to be talking about crazy money after your last performance!”
“Okay? You either want to fight or you don’t want to fight, no problem. If you don’t want to fight, you can hang out and do whatever you want, when you are ready, you let me know.” {H/T Bloody Elbow}
After Jon Jones’s pay issue, Paulo Costa also locked horns with the promotion regarding this and we’ve heard Dana White’s thoughts on it as well. What do you think this issue will end or more fighters will add into this last?
