Dana White states Brandon Moreno’s star power overshadows Mighty Mouse Johnson and Henry Cejudo
Brandon Moreno
UFC’s flyweight division is ruled by the first Mexican-born champ, Brandon Moreno. His journey in the UFC has been pretty amazing, he got cut off from the promotion following a series of losses, and he came back climbed the rankings, and became the undisputed champion by putting up one of the best title performances in the history of the company.
The flyweight division always had the best talents but it never really gained the attention it deserved. Demetrious Johnson was the inaugural champ of the division, and he is one of the best fighters to ever walk inside the octagon. Former two-division champ and Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo then ruled the division, and finally vacated the belt to move on to new challenges. Deivision Figueiredo then became the champ before finally losing to Brandon Moreno.
Moreno’s journey has been quite inspirational and is a huge fan favorite, he brings all necessary attention to the division, and UFC president Dana White believes he is a big star in the making. Dana White mentioned his star power in a recent interview, and also asked everybody to watch him compete in a trilogy match against Figueiredo at UFC 270.
“You’re really gonna see it and feel it on Saturday“- Dana White states Brandon Moreno is a star in the making
Talking to Kevin Iole from Yahoo Sports, he said, “He already is, he already is (a big star). I mean I’ve saying this to everybody watch Saturday night when that kid comes into the arena. You don’t realize until you do (these signings and everything.) He’s a huge star, and you’re really gonna see it and feel it on Saturday.”
He added, “Yeah well, obviously first Mexican-born world champion for the UFC, and yes the division is rebuilt with straight killers. I mean all the guys in the division now are killers, we finally got a Mexican-born world champion. The trilogy between him and Figueiredo is awesome, Figueiredo is a savage, this guy comes in to destroy you, and just you know the division couldn’t be any more exciting.”
