Dana White: UFC interested in Michael Chandler vs Tony Ferguson fight

Dana White comes bearing good news for UFC fans. The UFC president confirms that a spectacular lightweight matchup is in the making.

The lightweight division is arguably the most stacked division in the UFC. One could match up anyone from the top fighters and it would end up being a blockbuster fight. The two superstars that are now being considered for a fight are Michael Chandler and Tony Ferguson. UFC President Dana White confirmed in an ESPN+ Q&A session that the promotion is in the works to make this fight happen.

There is no doubt that if this fight does happen, all the fans around the world will be tuning in. The fanbase “El Cucuy” is huge and Michael Chandler now has his own growing fanbase. White also emphasized that this fight is still not confirmed.

Is Michael Chandler vs Tony Ferguson a good matchup?

While this fight might be exciting off the top of our heads. Many would suggest this is one of the most terrible matchups that Dana White and his matchmakers could come up with. Despite the fact that the names of Ferguson and Chandler guarantee huge PPV sales, fans believe this fight could end up being one of Ferguson’s most devastating defeats.

After going 11 fights undefeated in the UFC, Tony’s streak was broken by lightweight contender Justin Gaethje is one of the most horrific beatings in lightweight history. He is now 1-2 in the new promotion coming off losses against Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaethje. Gaethje vs Chandler was one of the best fights of last year as the two lightweights went back and forth for three rounds. Chandler might be starving for a fight where he could bounce back to the winning chart and a matchup against Ferguson might be the one.
