Daniel Cormier touts Gilbert Burns as Khamzat Chimaev’s hardest test, believes ‘Borz’ will fight for the title if he wins

Gilbert Burns has been on Dana White‘s ass for quite a while now urging the UFC President to let him take on Khamzat Chimaev in a welterweight main event bout.
Both fighters have been at each other’s throats on social media and verbally agreed to fight one another on Twitter. Burns then sent out a tweet urging Dana White to set up a five-round bout between him and Chimaev to take place in Brazil.
“Make it happen @danawhite I’m all in! 5 rounds in vs Let’s grappled! @KChimaev @ufc“, said the tweet.
Chimaev in response said on his YouTube channel, “I like this guy, actually. He’s a funny, nice guy. I want to fight with him. But in war, brother, I can’t be nice with somebody. I want to eat everybody. Take my money. Take my belt. I’m so hungry. When I talk about fighters, I’m hungry. I hope I will fight in Brazil, as well. Nice country. Nice people.”
Many people have been talking about a potential matchup between the two welterweights with Daniel Cormier saying that a fight of such magnitude deserves a five-round main event.
On the ESPN MMA show DC & RC, former UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and NFL star Ryan Clark played a game of ‘Tap In or Tap Out’ wherein they are asked questions as to whether they wanted to see a specific fight go down or not.
They were then asked to ‘Tap In or Tap Out’ for a fight between Burns and Chimaev to which DC replied, “I tap in. I tap all the way in.”
Daniel Cormier gives his opinion on why Gilbert Burns vs Khamzat Chimaev will make that good of a fight
Daniel Cormier was asked about how he felt about a potential welterweight five-round main event fight between Gilbert Burns and Khamzat Chimaev in Brazil to which he showed his full support.
“I tap in. I tap all the way in. Burns – Chimaev in Brazil. Gilbert will test him in ways that he has not been tested. Also, a five-round main event and will also tell us if Chimaev is ready to take the next step.”
He then called on to his co-host Ryan Clark saying, “Ryan, you predicted that he [Chimaev] would be fighting for the championship in this year. I said, ‘Maybe he’d be the number one contender looking at 23’. He beats Gilbert Burns, he will definitely fight for the championship in 2022. I’m tapping in.”
He went on to ask Clark, “Could you imagine if he dominates Gilbert Burns? Could you imagine the windstorm that will blow?“
Well, it’s certainly possible that ‘Borz’ dominates his likely fight with ‘Durinho’ as he is currently at a professional MMA record of 10-0 with all ten either won by knockout or submission and only a rare few have even come close to achieve a record such as his.
But Burns has 12 years of professional MMA experience compared to Chimaev’s three years in the top flight so the Swede could face his toughest fight yet.
