Deiveson Figueiredo just made the fight with Brandon Moreno more personal than it ever could be. Figueiredo destroyed a lego belt mercilessly after his coach Eric Albarracin instructs him to shoot the belt. Moreno has been vocal about his love for Lego’s and this must hurt him from inside.
Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno are scheduled to compete at UFC 270 in the co-main event for the UFC Flyweight championship. This fight will be the trilogy bout, the first two bouts were also for the championship. In the first fight, Figueiredo went with his belt in a fight of the year contest which ended in a majority draw. In the second fight, Moreno turned the script and finished Figueiredo for the first time in his MMA career. Moreno would defend his title for the first time again the same man he took it from.

Deiveson Figueiredo looked to be a force to reckon with after his back-to-back victories over the veteran Joseph Benavidez. He defended his belt soon after against Alex Perez in a phenomenal performance. The quick turnaround, the shortest time between a UFC Flyweight championship and a “fight of the year” where he leaves with his championship after being reported sick before the fight, everything was going Figueiredo’s way.
But Brandon Moreno not only loves Lego belts but he dreamed to be a UFC champion. He was released from UFC and had to make his way back and get the title opportunity. He came close to achieving it but a draw does not win a championship but a rematch does. Moreno knew after a fight like that the rematch is inevitable, so he started preparing for the rematch when the champion was busy handling other stuff not related to fighting. His preparation came to practice when he submitted the champion, achieved his dream, and became a UFC champion.
Figueiredo was finished for the first time in his MMA career. Figueiredo figured out that his schedule outside fighting was the reason for his lack of preparations and his loss. This time around the former champion is focused as it could be the last chance he fights for the flyweight championship. Figueiredo is big at 125 and weight cut is not always easy. With the trilogy and two losses, it would be impossible for him to get to Moreno and he would likely move up. Figueiredo looks prepared and with his new training with a mind like Cejudo, he looks all set to get the title back this Saturday.
