Derrick Lewis vs Chris Daukaus targetted for UFC Fight Night event on December 18
Derrick Lewis vs Chris Daukaus
UFC’s fan-favorite Derrick Lewis and rising heavyweight fighter Chris Daukaus are to be matched up for the main event battle at UFC Fight Night on December 18.
Derrick Lewis badly needs some confidence to get back to the beast he is used to being. The ‘Black Beast’ is coming off a devastating loss against Ciryl Gane at UFC 265 in the main event. The Texan fighter was bullied in the octagon in front of his home crowd who came to see their very own UFC interim champion on August 8th.
According to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto UFC is in the works for a stunning battle between Lewis and Chris Daukaus. From his recent tweet, we can infer that UFC President Dana White has revealed this information. The fight is most likely to be held in Las Vegas. If this fight gets booked, it will turn out to be a huge fight in the heavyweight division.
Can Derrick Lewis beat the undefeated Chris Daukaus?
While Derrick is coming off an interim title loss, his potential opponent for his next fight, Chris Daukaus is a rising heavyweight star. The Philadelphia fighter has fought four times in the UFC since his signing. Daukaus is coming off four straight KO wins in the UFC. He has a record of 12-3-0 in his professional MMA career.
The fighter is coming off an ecstatic win against heavyweight veteran Aleksei Oleinik at UFC 266. Though the fight is almost finalized, UFC is waiting for the confirmation of Chris as he is busy in training camp for Kyle Daukaus’ fight against Kevin Holland in October. If Chris agrees to take this fight, it will be the first time he will headline an event.
