UFC’s featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski has a huge chance of moving up a division and eyeing a super-fight.

Alexander Volkanovski might be on the ropes about moving up a weight class and being ambitious with his career in the UFC but his team at City Kickboxing are rooting for him to make that move. Coach Eugene Bareman believes the current featherweight champion could cause some serious problems in the 155-pound division.

Volkanovski is on his path to greatness as he comes off a title defense against top featherweight contender Brian Ortega at UFC 266. The champ defeated Ortega in stunning fashion and put himself as a contender for “Fight of The Year”. Volkanovski does not see any have a lot of options in the featherweight division right now given he has already beaten the former champ twice.

Can Alexander Volkanovski flourish in the lightweight division?

In the interview with Submission Radio, the coach of City Kickboxing spoke about Alex’s chances of moving up a weight class. “He would give a lot of guys lot of trouble in the division. Um, I mean if that ever happened then me and Joe would get together and the other coaches,” said Eugene. Even Alex has previously said he would fancy moving up a weight class if he had the opportunity.

“And definitely that would have to be quite intricate plan I feel. There would have to be a lot of planning to go into that. I feel like the best route to take would be some specific matches on your way here,” said Bareman on Volkanovski’s approach to the 155-pound division.

Alex has fought the former champion, Max, twice and beat him twice. Holloway is most probably the next opponent for Volk in the featherweight division. Another option that lingers around the corner is the return of Henry Cejudo, but the featherweight champion has already made it clear fighting Cejudo adds nothing to his legacy. Where do you think Alex sees himself in the future?
