Daniel Cormier weighs in on Charles Oliveira's winning mentality

Daniel Cormier does not think there is stopping Charles Oliveira. The former two-division champion believes the Brazilian has come to a point in his career where he is mentally superior to all of the other fighters in the division.

Charles Oliveira is scheduled to make his second title defense against one of the most lethal fighters in the world. Oliveira will fight Justin Gaethje at the main event of UFC 274. “Do Bronx” has been untouchable in the last few fights and has not shown any signs of weakness in terms of coming back from a tough spot.

Daniel Cormier weighs in on the upcoming title matchup between the two stars on his show DC&RC. DC believes Oliveira was subject to a lot of issues in his game in the earlier stages of his career, but a change in his mentality has made the fighter never give up inside the octagon and always end up winning. DC also brings attention to the fact that “Do Bronx” has not lost a fight since the end of 2017.

“You always believe it’s in that purse, the ability to check out. But what we have seen in Do Bronx is that he is not willing to go back to that place. I don’t know what he has done in his mind,” said Daniel. “It does not allow him to go, ‘Oh my God this is familiar, I don’t like this. I am fatigued. I will get him the next time.’ This dude has won like 12 fights in a row now. He doesn’t lose anymore.”

“Something has changed within him that doesn’t allow for him to look for a way out,” said Cormier. Oliveira has the highest winning streak in the lightweight division right now. The fighter has managed to win all his fights since 2018 and has beaten top fighters like Kevin Lee, Tony Ferguson, Michael Chandler, and Dustin Poirier in the recent fights.

“Do Bronx” has a record of 32-8-0 in his career. Charles holds the record for most finishes in the UFC by finishing 18 of his opponents out of 20 wins. He also has the most submissions in the promotion which puts a great threat to Justin Gaethje. Do you think Justin can beat Oliveira in the upcoming title fight?
