The UFC has given world-class athletes in mixed martial arts to the world. The Ultimate Fighting Championship is the platform where legends like Andre Silva, Georges St-Pierre, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Daniel Cormier, Jon Jones, and Demetrious Johnson have shown the advanced capabilities of the human body. The combination of strength with agility and stamina is the defining characteristic of martial arts, where the UFC’s platform is the ultimate goal.
Fighters around the world are putting their hard work into their amateur and professional careers to become the champions of the UFC one day. But there are some fighters in the UFC who have already claimed not just one, but two titles simultaneously. Reaching the No. 1 contender spot for the title shot is not easy, but for some gems, winning the title of the 2nd division is the real deal.
Fighters like Henry Cejudo, Conor McGregor, Daniel Cormier, and Amanda Nunes are the ones who actually hold the two divisions at the same time. Only Daniel Cormier and Amanda Nunes managed to defend their belts. But of these double champs, only two have the desire to register their names on the three-division champion list.

Conor McGregor targets to become the third-division champ
The biggest star of the UFC, Conor McGregor, is the face of MMA in the world right now. “The Notorious” played the biggest role in uplifting mixed martial arts sports. In combat sports, Conor McGregor may not be the GOAT, but he is the go-to man for UFC President. Dana White, in many of his interviews, accepted that Conor has his privilege because he is the one who brings the highest number of PPVs to the company.
Conor McGregor has registered his name in various sections of the UFC and MMA’s history books. McGregor had one of the fastest knockouts in the UFC against Jose Aldo, the first two-division champion. The most attendance was collected in his bouts only, and there are many more to come. One of the notable ones was when he and Khabib Nurmagomedov competed in the octagon at UFC 229. The event recorded the most PPVs and highest attendance in the T-Mobile Arena.
In 2016, Mcgregor became the first man to hold two UFC 2 division titles, i.e., the featherweight and lightweight titles. In 2022, Conor said, “Myself versus [Kamaru Usman was the champ] for the 170-pound title in my comeback fight is the one I’m eyeballing at the minute. Why cut the weight? I’ve already won the 155-pound title.“ But later on, the plan has been changed by the UFC, as he will be competing against Michael Chandler in the comeback fight.
Henry Cejudo is looking for 3rd division championship fight
The Olympic Gold Medalist and former 2 Division champ Henry Cejudo is a world-class wrestler. The moment a fight against Cejudo is announced, the whole MMA world knows it will be a pure wrestling class for the opponent. Wrestling plays an important role in mixed martial arts, where UFC fighters are supposed to take down their opponent to score extra points in a round.
With wrestling and excellent striking skills, “Triple C” was able to hold two division championship belts in the year 2019. Henry Cejudo became the third man after McGregor and Cormier to hold the two division titles simultaneously. After defending the two-division throne in 2020, Cejudo vacated both belts.
But after coming back from retirement in 2023, Cejudo made a solid statement. ‘Triple C” is targeting Alexander Volkanovski for the UFC featherweight belt. Prior to his UFC 288, Cejudo said, “I have ‘Aljo,’ O’Malley, and then I’m going after Volkanovski — and I want him in Australia. I want him in his own backyard.” But the former champ failed to secure the win against Aljamain Sterling, and now it will be a long road ahead for the former champ.
