Jan Blachowicz lays out the condition for a rematch against Israel Adesanya
Jan Blachowicz vs Israel Adesanya
UFC’s light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz defeated the previously undefeated middleweight champion Israel Adesanya in his first title defense. This was a matchup for ages, and Jan proved once in for all why he is the champ of one of the toughest divisions in the UFC.
Blachowicz defeated Adesanya back in UFC 259, and he believes the rematch can happen for sure, but Adesanya needs to fulfill a certain condition to earn this much. He said, “Yeah, why not? It’s possible. But first of all, if you go through my category, now he have to do some fights, you know? Not, ‘OK, I go try again.’ Not for the title. First of all, he need to beat maybe two, three guys in 205, and then maybe then they give him chance for the title. But not immediately.” (H/T MMANews.com)
Jan is booked to face the number one contender Glover Teixeira at UFC 267, and if he can get past Glover, Jiri Prochazka is next in line for the title shot, but a rematch against Adesanya would be interesting for sure.
“He will not catch me in his game,” Jan Blachowicz is ready to take on Glover Teixeira
Glover is a veteran of the game and he is making his last run at the UFC title, Jan acknowledged the threat that he presents, and believes he needs to be extremely careful of the “old fox.” He said, “You cannot be too fast because he is a smart guy, an old fox. A lot of experience. He knows how to survive.”
He added, “He can grab you in his game so, you need to wait a little bit. Like Gustafsson, Gustafsson waited until the fifth round to knock him out. This is also something that I want to do. If I hit him hard, if I see that he will go down I will wait. ‘Okay, stand up, let’s go a little bit more.’ He will not catch me in his game. I’m going to be ready for it.”
