The former UFC women’s strawweight champion, Joanna Jedrzejczyk last stepped inside the Octagon at UFC 248 to challenge Zhang Weili for her title. Jedrzejczyk faced a split decision loss in this fight and since then a lot of things have changed in the women’s strawweight division.

Rose Namajunas defeated Zhang Weili at UFC 261 to reclaim her throne and the inaugural UFC women’s strawweight champion, Carla Esparza rise up the rankings to fight for the gold once again.

Esparza defeated the top strawweight contender, Yan Xiaonan in her latest fight and she is on a five-fight winning streak. Joanna Jedrzejczyk also returned to L.A. and started her training.

She is aiming to make her comeback later this year and Jedrzejczyk believes Esparza didn’t deserve the title shot. In her latest interview with The Schmo, she says,

“This is what Esparza thinks. She has a few wins straight but hmm, I think the next challenger should be JJ or Weili Zhang. This is what I agree to only,” {H/T BJ Penn}

“Both fights are possible and are very interesting not only for me but for the other girls as well, I mean Rose or Weili Zhang, for the UFC, and the fans, so we’ll see what’s going to happen next,”

Carla Esparza is commited to fight for the title next

After a huge win against the undefeated UFC women’s strawweight fighter, Yan Xiaonan, Esparza is confident that she deserves the next title shot. Although, Dana White isn’t committed to it but she made a huge statement with her latest win.

In her interview with MMA Fighting, ‘The Cookie Monster’ says, “I do feel confident. It’s the only fight that makes sense. Come on, Dana. She wants the fight, too. She loves rematches that she’s lost,”

“I feel with a dominant performance over the No. 3 fighter in the division, I think for me and my opinion, that should be hands down my title fight. I think that makes sense. It’s the fight that the fans want to see. It’s an intriguing matchup with an intriguing storyline.” {H/T MMA Fighting}
