Joe Rogan is the leading voice of influence and opinion in combat sports. His podcast, Joe Rogan Experience, has become a must-see event, with new guests popping up for each episode. Rogan is known for his takes on fighting and this time with the guest, UFC Bantamweight Cory Sandhagen.

Regarding the split decision between Marlon Vera and Cory Sandhagen, Rogan said, “I think it should be a very comprehensive system, and I think it should be way more than three judges. I think, there is a real good argument to have something like 10 judges because like experts, guys like I don’t know if Firas Zahabi would do it but that level of expert. These f****** world class experts and trainers, have guys like that judge fight. If you have ten of those, 99.99 percent of the time, you are going to get the right winner.”

Rogan stated that there was no way Marlon Vera won over Cory Sandhagen. The current judging system keeps failing from event to event and has started to rub fight fans and experts the wrong way. Rogan’s judging approach comes from years of combat sports experience and observation skills. It makes sense that only MMA experts should judge, as the current judges always make mistakes.

Joe Rogan and Sandhagen also discussed PRIDE’s judging criteria and Volkanovski vs Makachev fight, where he felt like Makachev did not win. Rogan did not join the UFC 286 commentary team in London in order to focus on his podcast. However, he is expected to return for UFC 287 in Miami alongside Daniel Cormier and Jon Anik.

Conor McGregor took himself out of the USADA testing pool after his leg injury against Dustin Poirier. The prevailing rumour states that McGregor took himself out of the testing pool to use banned substances to heal his leg. Beneil Dariush condemned McGregor for using these substances to recover from the broken leg. However, Joe Rogan thinks that McGregor did it the right way and he would do the same.

He said, “You’re not going to heal off that just eating mangos and f*cking eating clean, you need some help. I would want that person to take something. You’d have to consult with an expert sports medicine doctor who would tell you, ‘you want peptides, you want this, you want that.”

Rogan believes athletes at the top level McGregor, Chris Weidman, need to find other ways to recover from horrific leg injuries and may lose a lot of time trying to recover normally. McGregor has the vocal support of Rogan amidst his controversy with USADA.
