Joe Rogan’s views on marijuana usage in MMA

MMA and the use of marijuana have not gone hand in hand for several years. Many fighters have been banned from the sport due to the consumption of marijuana. The most famous case of marijuana in MMA is when legendary UFC fighter Nick Diaz received a long-term ban for his usage of marijuana.
Though Joe is all in for the legalization and decriminalization of weed in the world, the UFC commentator certainly believes that marijuana is a performance-enhancing drug. Following the Nick Diaz saga, Rogan was called on The MMA Hour show hosted by Ariel Helwani in 2012 to let his views be known on the matter.
“I think it is a performance-enhancing drug. A lot of Brazilian guys use marijuana before they train. A lot of American jiu-jitsu guys use it before they train. And they don’t do it because it hurts them, they do it because it helps them,” Rogan said talking to Ariel Helwani in an interview back in 2012.
