‘I’ve absolutely moved on’ – Dana White claims the UFC heavyweight division will move ahead without Jon Jones

Jon Jones and Dana White

‘The Jon Jones and Dana White Dispute’ seems like it would never stop . Jones was initially tipped to face Francis Ngannou after the latter had won the heavyweight championship against Stipe Miocic at UFC 260. But since, Jon asked for around $30 million (according to Dana White) the UFC were not willing to pay him that much. Hence, the fight went to Derrick Lewis, and he is expected to fight the Cameroonian in a rematch.

White then had a suggestion for Jon Jones. He suggested that Jon could probably fight Stipe Miocic. But Jones refused on Twitter saying that his first fight in the heavyweight division should be a big one, and not against someone like Miocic, who recently lost his credibility.

In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, White claimed that it was up to Jon Jones to decide if he was willing to fight in the heavyweight division. He said that he had already given him so many chances, especially the Stipe one, but ‘Bones’ still refused.

White was quoted as saying, “Yeah, I’ve absolutely moved on. Listen, I put on fights every Saturday. We have a window where we try to build some fights and make some things happen. If the fights don’t happen within that window, we move on, and realistically, I mean I’ve been saying it since the beginning, Derrick Lewis is the guy who should be getting the title shot. He beat Francis Ngannou. He’s next in line, he’s coming off of great performances and that’s a wrap. We’re moving on.” [via MMA Mania]

White even said that Jones could very well go back to the light-heavyweight division if he wanted to. Speaking of which the boss said:

He concluded, “That’s up to Jon. He could absolutely fight again at 205. He said he wouldn’t fight Stipe and now Derrick and Francis are fighting so we’ll see how that fight plays out. There’s nothing wrong with going out on top, either.” [via MMA Mania]

Jon Jones reveals on Twitter that he was not sure of when he would fight next

In a recent Twitter Q & A, Jones revealed that he was not sure, when he would be fighting next. He tweeted, “I’m really not sure when I’ll be fighting next, but some downtime after a decade of wins is a nice little change up right now.”

Jones is currently 33, and still has a significant amount of fight years left. But it is sad to see almost a year and a half getting wasted only on fight negotiations.
