Justin Gaethje will return to the octagon after almost a year of absence. He lost his last title fight to Khabib Nurmagomedov, and now he will take on another title challenger Michael Chandler at UFC 268.

During a recent interview with Helen Yee, he was asked about the upcoming match between Islam Makhachev and Dan Hooker. Hooker has accepted this fight on short notice, and Gaethje respects that. When asked to give a prediction for this fight, he said, “I like Dan I like to watch him fight, it will be good to see Islam fight someone higher, it was crazy to see the dude jump from 15 or whatever to 5 after beating the number 14 guy, it was pretty crazy for me. So yeah, I’m glad to see him fight an actual ranked fighter.”

He continued, “I mean you know, he obviously gonna go out there try to wrestle, fight the way they fight, he’s gonna be a big favorite, he’s probably a huge favorite. Because Dan Hooker is a striker, he is not a grappler he’s never been known as a grappler, but I hope he can stop some takedown and make it a fight, we’ve seen him getting knocked out so yeah. I hate to see people getting pushed that are not finishing people or not exciting but that’s just me and that’s how I’ll be whether he’s the champion or not that’ll be my outlook.”

He’s gonna be a timid soul when he starts shooting,” Justin Gaethje claims Michael Chandler can’t strike with him

Gaethje will take on the former title challenger Michael Chandler at UFC 268. This would be a matchup for the ages, and Gaethje is itching to get his hands on Chandler.

Gaethje and Chandler don’t like each other, they have passed on some aggressive banter towards each other during the build-up to this match. Now Gaethje has claimed that Chandler will try to turn it into a wrestling match, once he feels his power.

Talking to The Schmo, he said, “The dude comes to fight. He loves fighting just as much as me. Styles make matchups and this is a stylistic matchup for the fans. Someone’s gonna get knocked out. Unless he turns into a b*tch and tries to turn this into a wrestling match the whole time. He’s talking about timid souls taking a step backwards. He’s gonna be a timid soul when he starts shooting for legs because he doesn’t like the power. That’s what I think.”
