Usman and his manager Ali Abdelaziz have been pushing for this fight for quite some time now. Despite no support from the UFC so far, Kamaru is optimistic about this fight happening. At first, the undisputed boxing champ was not quite sold out on the idea of fighting the MMA champ inside the boxing ring but he sure has changed his mind and has said there is a chance of this bout happening.

Usman is not the greatest of strikers in the UFC but the Nigerian Nightmare is confident that he can stop Canelo in his forte. “I do think the fight 100 percent needs to happen. The pound-for-pound vs the pound-for-pound,” said Usman in a recent interview with MMA Junkie. “Everyone says it can’t be done until they see it done. I’ve said it before, I will stop him.”

Usman is coming off three title defenses in the year 2021 and is undoubtedly the Fighter of The Year in MMA. His most recent fight with Colby Covington at UFC 268 was a huge PPV blockbuster. With a record of 20-1 in MMA, Usman believes he is ready to take part in a crossover boxing event.
