“I think Kayla Harrison is the best in the world” – Khabib Nurmagomedov showers praise on the PFL star

Kayla Harrison might arguably go down as one of the greatest female mixed martial artists to ever exist on planet Earth. The PFL fighter was an Olympian first. She won the Gold medal for the United States representing them in Women’s 78kg Judo at the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games, held in London and Rio de Janeiro respectively.

Harrison made her MMA debut in June 2018 at PFL 2 against Brittney Elkin and won via. submission in the very first round of the fight. In just 18 months’ time, Harrison won the PFL lightweight championship by defeating Larissa Pachecho at PFL 10 in December 2019. She currently has a record of 10 wins and 0 losses.

Elsewhere, UFC lightweight GOAT Khabib Nurmagomedov was full of praise for Kayla Harrison. Speaking in an interview ahead of the PFL Playoffs which kicks off in a few hours, Khabib claimed that Harrison “is the best in the world”, before going on to say that no one in the PFL ever comes close.

Here is what Khabib had to say: “I think Kayla Harrison is like best in the world. I just think like, ‘Who can beat her?’ I don’t think someone can beat her. I don’t see nobody in PFL [beating her]…Judo like one of the hardest sports in the world. If you win twice Gold medal, you have to be like beast, you know?” [via ESPN MMA]

Harrison is set to face Genah Fabian at the PFL Playoffs which kicks off soon. It is a crucial match for Harrison, as she will be looking forward to ending her PFL career as the champion. She still has two fights left in her contract. And, although she is the clear favourite going into the fight against Fabian, she will be wary of the Kiwi’s height and reach, which is not something a usual female fighter possesses.

Khabib, on the other hand, recently signed a professional footballing contract. A news which was disputed by his manager Ali Abdelaziz who called it fake. He has also been coaching his fellow Dagestani brothers across various MMA promotions, and has got his hands full since he is the promoter and the owner of Eagle Fighting Championship.
