Alexander Volkanovski vs The Korean Zombie
The featherweight division of UFC just experienced a massive turn of events as Max Holloway will not fight for the title anymore. According to reports, Holloway had to pull out from the fight against champion Alexander Volkanovski due to an injury.
As Holloway will not compete for the title anytime soon, every other top fighter in the featherweight division has thrown his name to fight against Alexander Volkanovski. Some of the major names that can be considered worthy to become a title contender are Josh Emmet, Chang Sung Jung, and Yair Rodriguez.
Emmet is on a great four-fight win streak and is looking very tough at this moment. Emmet is currently #6 in the featherweight rankings and can be considered as an overall package for the title contender. The fighter has accurate striking skills along with the power to knock his opponents out and he can fix that with his BJJ attributes. It will be a good showdown between the champ and Emmet if this fight ever happens.
It’s hard to forget Yair Rodriguez in the title contender discussion as the Mexican is the #3 ranked fighter in the division. Yair recently suffered a loss against Holloway but his performance during the was incredible. Surely has the potential to give a tough challenge to Volkanovski. The last possible, Contender for the title is Chang Sung Jung. The Korean Zombie won his last bout against Dan Ige in June of 2021 and currently ranks #4 in the rankings.
Michael Bisping is excited for a fight between Alexander Volkanovski and The Korean Zombie
Michel Bisping recently did an MMA wrap of the week on his YouTube channel where he shared his opinions regarding the possible challenger against Volkanovski. Bisping addressed the fact that Holloway will not be fighting and according to his sources in the UFC he has discovered something about the Hawaiian. “Apparently from what I’m hearing is that an old injury got aggravated again so Holloway is out,” said Bisping. The former UFC fighter gave credit to Holloway for not coming to the fight injured as he needs to be in his best version.
Bisping believes that the Korean zombie has the best chances to fight for the belt because of some comments made by MMA reporter Ariel Helwani and Alexander Volkanovski himself. “Looks like the Korean zombie is the front runner,” said Bisping. He believes the featherweight division is in a healthy place as everybody is challenging for the title shot.
