Former UFC champion Dominick Cruz was eager to make his octagon return in the upcoming weeks at UFC Seattle. It was the fighter’s return after a two-year-old hiatus after his last loss against Marlon Vera. Unfortunately, Cruz has now injured his shoulders, ruining his plans forever.
Cruz recently posted photos of himself in the hospital with a dislocated right shoulder. He revealed that it was his second shoulder injury in eight months—a development he took as a sign. Consequently, Cruz has decided to retire, opting out of what would have been his final UFC fight.
I have poured every ounce of myself into this sport for the last 25 years. I was really hopeful for one final fight but unfortunately, two shoulder dislocations in 8 months calls an end to this guy’s career. I gave everything I had and put it into preparation and training for this fight…..But sometimes, the body just doesn’t cooperate.

He also credited all MMA organizations that helped shape the future of MMA as a sport in the United States. Finally, the veteran fighter showed his gratitude for his fans who came in numbers to his fights in order to support him.

Despite his many achievements, Dominick Cruz’s career was not without its setbacks. However, Cruz made a remarkable return in 2016, reclaiming the belt and becoming the first bantamweight to achieve a two-time champion status. The ‘Dominator’ was entertaining to watch and even more entertaining to listen to while commentating. Here are some reactions to the sudden retirement.

What you said about loss and life after UFC 207 helped me get through some tough times. I go back to it when things get down to help keep focused.
Your fights have been great, your analysis is appreciated, and I look forward to whatever…
One of the unluckiest fighters in ufc history but also one of the greatest fighters in ufc history. It was a pleasure watching you compete Dominick.
