“Stop with the excuses” – Leon Edwards ready to fight Jorge Masvidal

“Stop with the excuses” – Leon Edwards ready to fight Jorge Masvidal

Jorge Masvidal and Leon Edwards

Leon Edwards is ready to take on Jorge Masvidal. ‘Gamebred’ hasn’t fought since his horrific loss against Kamaru Usman at UFC 261. The number 7 ranked welterweight has been actively hunting for an opponent, and it looks like ‘Rocky’ Edwards is ready to take him on.

Jorge Masvidal recently said that he would like to return to action in December, and would only fight someone who might get him back to a title shot. In fact, his loss against Usman had pushed him out of the top 5 of the welterweight rankings. He has got at least 3 or 4 fighters who will be ready to fight him.

“I’ll be ready in November or December” – Leon Edwards to Jorge Masvidal

Leon Edwards took to Twitter to quote tweet MMA Junkie, mentioning the same about Masvidal. Edwards wrote, “I’ll be ready in November or December. Stop with the excuses #backinblood.”

Edwards is coming off a unanimous decision win over Nate Diaz at UFC 263. The fight saw the Brit dominate the contest for the first 24 of the 25 minutes, before Diaz turned the tables with a three-lunged performance in the last minute of the last round. However, Edwards survived the onslaught to bring up his ninth consecutive victory in the UFC. His last defeat came way back in 2015, against Kamaru Usman.

Masvidal, on the other hand, is currently on a two-fight skid, with both the losses coming against Kamaru Usman at UFC 251 and UFC 261 respectively. His loss at UFC 261 was so brutal that it had many people from the MMA community claiming that he was finished. It was also his first-ever knockout loss in the UFC.
