Leon Edwards is 100% next in line for Kamaru Usman confirms Dana White

Dana White has confirmed that Leon Edwards will take on Kamaru Usman for the UFC Welterweight title next, location and date are TBD. Edwards, who is on a ten-fight unbeaten streak, is getting his long-awaited title shot. This would be a rematch, Usman won the first fight by unanimous decision.

Dana White also revealed to Aaron Bronsteter that they are working for a co-main for the UFC 272 card. It would be interesting to see if they could book Dustin Porier and Nate Diaz in the co-main for this card or is it going to involve Khamzat Chimaev and Gilbert Burns. These two fights could be the potential co-main for the UFC 272 card.

Can Leon Edwards bring the UFC title to UK

Leon Edwards has been title picture for more than two years now. He is finally getting his long hauled title fight. The UK fighter is the best hope for UK MMA to win a UFC championship after Michael Bisping. Fellow countryman Darren Till has challenged for the WW championship against Tyron Woodley but came short and lost his chance.

Leon Edwards has not lost a single fight in his last ten outing inside the octagon. His last loss comes to the sitting champion. Both fighters have evolved since their first fight. Edwards ‘the striker’ is out grappling the BJJ black belts like RDA and Gunnar Nelson, Usman ‘the wrestler just knocked out Jorge ‘Gamebred’ Masvidal and has looked phenomenal since moving with his new coach Trevor Whittman.

Edwards wants to win this championship not only for him but for his country as well. Edwards had previously stated that he would like to show the kids in the UK that you could become a champion, training in the UK and you don’t need to go to these other countries for training. Edwards also knows how difficult it was for him to get this opportunity and would like to capitalize the moment and win the UFC welterweight championship from the pound for pound number one fighter in Kamaru Usman.
