“Put me in,” Nick Diaz throws his name in the mix against Leon Edwards as Masvidal pull out due to an unexpected injury
Leon Edwards vs Nick Diaz
Nick Diaz is game! The two times UFC Welterweight title contender and number 7th ranked UFC Welterweight fighter, Jorge Masvidal was booked to face the number 3rd ranked UFC Welterweight fighter, Leon Edwards at UFC 269 to settle their infamous rivalry which roots back in 2019.
But this fight is canceled, Brett Okamoto from ESPN was the first to break this news, he tweeted, “Jorge Masvidal vs Leon Edwards is off UFC 269 on Dec 11, UFC’s chief Business Officer Hunter Campbell tells ESPN. Undisclosed injury for Masvidal. No word yet on whether it will be rebooked or UFC will move on.”

Many fighters stepped up to face Edwards, but one of the most interesting call-outs came from the elder Diaz brother, Nick Diaz, he commented on Brett Okamoto’s Instagram page, he wrote, “Put me in.”
“I knew this fraud didn’t want to fight me anyway,” Leon Edwards might fight Nick Diaz, because he knew Masvidal would avoid this fight
Leon Edwards tweeted reacting to Jorge Masvidal pulling out and also calls out Kamaru Usman for the fight. “Disappointed but honestly I knew this fraud didn’t want to fight me anyway. He was just a stop off on the way to the title. The goal remains the same. Much needed family time now, @usman84kg [Kamaru Usman] I will see you soon.”

With a 9-fight winning streak [and a no-contest] at the UFC, Edwards has a pretty strong argument to fight for the title, his last loss was handed by the champion himself. So for Edwards, he has more than getting the title, he has to avenge his loss as well. Since there is still a whole month to go, someone can back up and fight Edwards and save his position in the card and get themselves a position as well. As of now, Usman is just off his title defense against arch-rival Colby Covington at UFC 268, so the title fight Edwards is looking for still has time to come to fruition.
