“He might actually kill someone” – Alex Pereira reveals ex-girlfriend was secretly married leaving MMA community in shock

Alex Pereira is one of the best strikers in the UFC. Recently, he captured the UFC light heavyweight title. The recent headlines surrounding Pereira focused on his breakup. He broke up with his girlfriend, Merle Christine, and the news spread like wildfire. While she addressed the issue publicly earlier, ‘Poatan’ didn’t. Now, Pereira came forward and shockingly revealed the reason for their breakup.

In a snippet released by Fullsend_MMA on Instagram, Alex Pereira disclosed his girlfriend Merle Christine was married to someone else when they were together. As such, he claimed to have ‘deleted’ her from his life for the ‘betrayal’ and requested the fans to do the same. Here is what he said (as per the subtitles given by Fullsend_MMA):

It's a little hard to talk about this because, for me, I already deleted this person from my life. I would also like to ask my fans to also delete her from your life. It was a person I believed, I put her in my house together with my family. After all, I found out she was married.

Alex Pereira and Merle Christine deleted their pictures from their socials and erased all traces of them together. ‘Poatan’ and Christine lived with his kids after relocating to the US. However, she wasn’t the mother of the kids, as Pereira married and divorced a woman earlier. Since he belonged to an indigenous tribe in Brazil, many believed his first marriage was to a woman from the same tribe.

Alex Pereira in the UFC had only lost once to his nemesis Israel Adesanya. Currently, he reigns as the UFC light-heavyweight champion. As such, he gained the fandom and utilized his potential to increase his net worth. As for his next fight, nothing was confirmed yet. But rumors suggested he might defend his title against Jamahal Hill next.

Fans react to Alex Pereira’s breakup statement

Alex Pereira might be an intimidating figure with tattoos all over the body. But, he had a happy love life apart from his fight job. But it ended all too soon last month when Pereira and Merle broke up. As such, ‘Poatan’ remained silent for the most part. Poatan revealed the reason in his recent interview. He said Christine hid her marriage status and betrayed him in their relationship.

Regarding his career, ‘Poatan’ stated he wanted to be an active champion. So, he might soon return to the octagon in 2024. Previously, he beat Jiri Prochazka at UFC 295 to become the UFC light-heavyweight champion.
