Conor McGregor is the big “money fight” in the UFC. He has not competed in two years but remains the biggest star on the UFC roster. As the day of his comeback approaches, UFC fighters flocked to call out the Irish superstar, including the current featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski.

Conor McGregor is often considered the face of the UFC. He gave the UFC its spotlight and helped bring mass attention to the sport of MMA. McGregor is a former two-division UFC champion. He competed in the featherweight and lightweight divisions. He was the first UFC fighter to hold two championship titles simultaneously in two different weight classes.

Conor McGregor became the featherweight champion at UFC 194 after defeating Jose Aldo. He had always indicated his desire to move up to the lightweight division and become a two-weight title holder. McGregor defeated Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 to accomplish his dream. He will face Michael Chandler for his comeback to the UFC. However, the UFC fighters continue to challenge the former two-division champion despite not making his comeback yet.

Alexander Volkanovski is the current UFC Featherweight Champion and the latest fighter to challenge ‘The Notorious. ‘ He has an impressive track record. Volkanovski has lost only once ever since his debut in 2016. In February, Volkanovski lost the Lightweight title bout against Islam Makhachev at UFC 284 via unanimous decision. However, he still holds the featherweight title.

It is undoubtedly true that both Alexander Volkanovski and Conor McGregor are masters in the craft. The two of them have proved their capability to have incredible fighting ability and accomplishments. Many wondered about the outcome of a fight between the two featherweight masters.

ESPN MMA recently tweeted something that caught the attention of the featherweight champion. They wrote, “If Volkanovski and McGregor ever fought at featherweight, the winner would have beaten every undisputed champion in the division. ” Although Conor McGregor is the more popular fighter, Alexander Volkanovski has a better record in the featherweight division.

Volkanovski has faced the same opponents Conor faced on his road to Featherweight Championship, but he holds a longer title defense record. Responding to ESPN’s tweet, Volkanovski wrote, ” Let’s do it at Lightweight.” Due to McGregor’s star power, the weight class of the Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler fight remains unknown. If a fight between Volkanovski and McGregor occurs, it will be interesting to see who emerges as the better featherweight master.
