UFC lightweight title contender, Alexander Volkanovski has released a statement on twitter to call out the lightweight champion in Islam Makhachev after rewatching the UFC 284 super fight.
After UFC 284’s closely contested bout, Alexander Volkanovski has ensured his title win. However, due to a unanimous decision by the judges, the fighter did not get his hands on the lightweight gold. As Islam Makhachev remains the champion, UFC lightweight contenders are swarming to get their title shots.
Despite taking over the #2 and #3 spot in the UFC lightweight rankings, Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje are probably not the perfect matchups for Islam Makhachev. Both the fighters have had their chances at the title twice and have blown it up. So who stands as the next best alternative amongst the top-ranked lightweights?
In a recent Tweet, Volkanovski called out Makhachev for a rematch. His Tweet read: “Let’s run it back and give the people what they want! @MAKHACHEVMMA.”
In a recent tweet, UFC featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski discussed his views on the UFC 284 headliner. Many fans believe the fight met a controversial ending after UFC featherweight, Alexander Volkanovski ended up on top of Makhachev towards the end of the fifth round.
Islam Makhachev has also been accused by featherweight, Dan Hooker of cheating after the fighter released a statement about Makhachev taking IV fluids in the build-up to the fight to prevent dehydration.

Alexander Volkanovski awaits a lightweight rematch to contend for the title against Makhachev after a closely contested five-rounder
The UFC 284 main event saw Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski fight for the lightweight championship. Since his victory against Charles Oliveira at UFC 280, Makhachev has been aiming to take over the #1 spot in the P4P rankings of the UFC.
Despite his win against Volkanovski at UFC 284, Islam Makhachev has not been able to take over the #1 spot in the P4P rankings. Speculated reasonings have revealed that this was due to the accusations thrown at Makhachev of cheating by Dan Hooker of cheating.
UFC welterweight legend, Nate Diaz watched the fight and declared Volkanovski as the winner of the fight. “Yeah right, Islam got his a** whooped,” Diaz wrote in a tweet. UFC featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski has rewatched the fight and believes to give it a run back after the closely contested battle ended controversially in the eyes of millions of MMA fans at UFC 284.
