“Cloud chaser” – Ali Abdelaziz GOES AFTER Michael Chandler for criticizing Islam Makhachev
Ali Abdelaziz and Islam Makhachev (L), Michael Chandler (R)
Islam Makhachev takes on Charles Oliveira on the 22nd of October in Abu Dhabi. In a highly anticipated match-up, the support for the fight is split almost in a bipolar fashion – that is, there seem to be two clear sets of supporters.
Amongst this kerfuffle, it seems like fighters are getting into the mix as well, predicting who they think will trump over the other. Justin Gaethje spoke about Charles Oliveira’s insane power a while back, and it seems to be Michael Chandler’s turn now.
While he said that the bout will be hotly contested, Chandler questioned the Dagestani fighter’s record and said that the praise and adulation being showered upon Islam Makhachev is “premature”. Obviously, Islam Makhachev had a retort up his sleeve, replying on Twitter, “Haha., your only two win in UFC is Hooker who came out of loss, and Tony who has 5 losses in the row now, please shut up and stay in line.”

Now, it seems like Makhachev’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz wants a piece of the action as well. Ali Abdelaziz is notorious for taking jabs at fighters on Twitter and also allegedly masquerading as his fighters on their Twitter handles. Taking a swipe at Chandler, he said “Your two wins in the UFC over guys with a combined record of 1-9 in the last 10 the cloud chaser”

Without getting into the rules of syntax, it must be said that Abdelaziz seems to have gotten clout, mixed up with cloud.
Fans take the mickey out of Ali Abdelaziz’s shot at Michael Chandler
The reason for this is that this is not the first time he has used inflammatory language and gotten himself involved in a fighter tussle. There seems to be a silent rule which basically asks managers and the fighters’ teams to stay out of sparring with words on the Internet and even in person (with the other camp), in a bid to uphold the respect of the sport. This does not stop the fighters in question going after each other, however. This code of conduct has been broken quite a few times, but none more than Ali Abdelaziz has violated it.
While it is forgivable for someone to mix up two similar sounding words, Ali Abdelaziz has not escaped fight fans’ jest or their wrath.
Some of the memorable fan reactions to Abdelaziz’s tweet were, “Shut the f*ck up”, “It is clear the UFC wants Islam to be champ. Dude hasn’t even beat washed anyone whatsoever & on top of that they give him a title shot in his region of the world against the fucking champ. The actual champ. Ali is paying everyone out there to make sure they take care of his bum.”

“Someone should tell this idiot to check his sentences and grammar before posting anything.”, and “What’s a cloud chaser?” were more illustrations of the ire Ali Abdelaziz received.

The last time Ali Abdelaziz endured heat was when Khabib Nurmagomedov sounded off on Charles Oliveira, saying that the Brazilian would not show up in Abu Dhabi. Khabib usually doesn’t trade blows with fighters on the internet, and MMA fans were quick to react to what could possibly be Abdelaziz using his Twitter instead.
Come 22nd October, the fight between Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev is sure to be a slugfest, with both fighters training to bring out their best. Who do you think wins? Let us know!
