Aljamain Sterling emerged victorious and defended his title against former flyweight and bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo. While, the Funkmaster disclosed his plans for his next fights, he also had an additional announcement. Sterling is hoping to try his hand at the alcohol industry with the help of Conor McGregor.
Aljamain Sterling is already thinking about his future after he leaves his fighting days behind. The bantamweight champion has planned to venture into several different business models and his line of rum is one of them. During his post-fight interview at UFC 288, Sterling talked about his plans for his brand of rum. He also revealed, how he would love guidance from Conor McGregor to pursue his rum business.
“I would like to talk to Conor McGregor about pursuing my own rum career with my own drink…I’m looking to still launch my own line. I got some stuff lined up. Some designs, some things like that in the works.” said Aljamain Sterling in his interview.
Sterling also thanked Conor McGregor for his compliments and called him a pioneer of the sport. “Life is about creating new adventures and things like that. Eventually, this door is gonna close, I wanna make sure I set myself up. So I do appreciate the words from Conor. I like watching his fight, he’s a pioneer of the sport. If you can’t respect that guy I don’t know what to tell you.” added the bantamweight champion.
Conor McGregor built himself a highly successful whiskey brand, Proper No.12 Irish Whiskey. He started his whiskey company in late 2018 and sold it for $600 million. With Sterling starting his own brand of rum, he couldn’t have approached someone with more knowledge of the industry than Conor McGregor.
Aljamain Sterling will copy Henry Cejudo’s fighting blueprint for his next fights

UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling recently defeated former UFC double champion, Henry Cejudo at UFC 288. Sterling was not a betting favourite going into the fight, despite being the champion. However, he was able to do just enough to win via a split decision. After defending his title three times and emerging victorious against an Olympic gold medalist, Funkmaster talks about claiming the title in the featherweight division.
During his post-fight interview, Sterling explained his plans for his next few fights in UFC. While Aljamain is keen on fighting for the featherweight title, he wants to humble Sean O’Malley first. ” I plan on fighting O’Malley then going up and chasing Volkanovski. I’m taking Henry’s blueprint. I’ve been humbled by this sport, and I think O’Malley needs to be humbled again. I guess him breaking his foot against Marlon Vera wasn’t enough for him, so I’ve got to do it again to him,” said Aljamain Sterling.
Sterling also revealed that he would most likely be fighting again in August or September. Given, the heated exchange and callouts between the fighters, their bout might prove to be very exciting. If the Funkmaster manages to defend his title against O’Malley, fans will see him embark on his featherweight journey.
