“I feel disrespected” – Anderson Silva talks about his beef with the UFC president, Dana White
A confused Dana responded to Anderson's criticism of him and the UFC
The octagon has been home to some of the greatest fighters on the planet. While many fighters have spent their blood, sweat, and tears in making the UFC what it is today, not many can compare to what Anderson Silva has done for the promotion. Considered an elite martial artist, Silva is regarded as the greatest of all time by many.
Since his debut against Chris Leben at UFC Fight Night 5, Silva has gone on to create many iconic moments in the UFC. Whether it was his front kick knockout of Vitor Belfort or his submission finish of Chael Sonnen, Anderson Silva will go down as one of the best fighters to compete in the UFC.
Over the years, ‘The Spider’ has earned the respect of many who work in the UFC. While everyone holds Silva in high regard, the Brazilian fighter once slammed UFC President White.
Anderson Silva criticized UFC Boss Dana White
White has been instrumental in building the UFC and making mixed martial arts the fastest-growing sport in the world. While many fans credit him for the same, there are some who have heavily criticized White in the past. One man who did the same was former 185-pound UFC champion, Anderson Silva.
During an interview, former champion Silva once said, “When I was done in UFC, everybody — especially Dana White — said, ‘Oh, Anderson can’t fight anymore. Nobody in the same age [group] with Anderson can fight, it’s terrible,’ and blah, blah, blah. And talking a lot of sh*t about me,” Silva told Sportsnaut. “And I feel disrespected because it doesn’t matter what happened — fight is fight. You can win, you can lose.”
He added, “When you make a success of [MMA], the one thing you need to do for your fighters is [give] respect. In that, I feel no respect. But I don’t care because when I stop fighting, I’m gonna stop fighting because I say I’m gonna stop it,” he continued. “Nobody can say for me I [should] stop. No one can say for [anybody] you need to stop now. Nobody. I’ll stop when I say I’m done.” (H/T Sportsnaut)
