“First fight wasn’t a fluke” – Belal Muhammad slams Julianna Pena’s haters for criticizing loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 277
Belal Muhammad defends Julianna Pena after loss to Amanda Nunes
Belal Muhammad is not having any Julianna Pena slander after her loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 277. The welterweight top contender believes there is still no clear winner from the Amanda vs Julianna series and only a trilogy fight could settle this rivalry.
Amanda Nunes and Julianna Pena went head to head for the second time at UFC 277. The two women’s bantamweight fighters put on an amazing show at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, yesterday. Julianna was set to prove that her first win against the GWOAT was not a fluke but the Venezuelan Vixen was completely outclassed by her rival, Nunes.
Belal recently went live on his Instagram feed to discuss the aftermath of the rematch between the two best women’s bantamweights. While many fans and critics believe a trilogy is not necessary between the two given Nunes comfortably won on the scorecards in the last fight. Muhammad begs to differ and says the only way that the rivalry between Julianna and Amanda could be settled is via a trilogy fight.
Belal Muhammad points out that Julianna Pena managed to finish Amanda while the latter could not do the same
Belal slams the haters for criticizing Julianna’s performance and looking past her heart that she showed for the entire five rounds and moments where she almost choked out the Lioness in the second fight. “The heart she showed, the mentality she showed, and she showed why she was the champion and how the first fight wasn’t a fluke. To all the haters saying it was a fluke, look how tough she showed herself, she had moments where she almost caught her [Nunes] in an armbar,” said Belal on his recent Instagram video.
The judges scored the fight, as a lopsided unanimous decision victory for the Brazilian. UFC 277 surely did show that Pena was not going to quit and showed great resilience from her. “To all the haters, Julianna won the first fight via a finish, Amanda Nunes didn’t. So that’s why they deserve a trilogy fight. You could talk about the score was 50-44 or 50-43 but that doesn’t talk about the whole fight,” said Belal Muhammad.
