Top UFC lightweight Beneil Dariush isn’t attracted to huge money fights. The #6 ranked fighter would rather fight an opponent that is at a high level of skill over the superstar Conor McGregor.

Beneil Dariush might genuinely go down as the only fighter not want a fight against the superstar MMA fighter Conor McGregor. While the entire division, including, the former champ Charles Oliveira hunting down a potential fight against The Notorious One, Dariush wants to take on opponents that will test his skills.

Conor McGregor has been out for quite some time now and has shown very little promise of returning in the year 2022. Dariush talked to FirstSportz MMA in an exclusive interview ahead of his fight at UFC 280 and revealed why he won’t fight “The Notorious One”.

“Honestly, no. I’d rather fight somebody who is better and fight somebody who has a winning record and is relevant, and competitive,” said Dariush talking to FirstSportz. Dariush currently has his goal set at the lightweight title shot and wants to fight for the belt by all means necessary. After his fight against Gamrot at UFC 280, the top-ranked lightweight wants to fight someone on a winning streak.

Beneil Dariush believes Conor McGregor won’t fight anytime soon

It has been quite a while since we saw the Irish superstar fight in the octagon. McGregor is currently recovering from his devastating injury in his fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. The Irishman has shown great progress since he broke his leg but it is still unsure when he might return.

“I don’t think Conor is really looking to fight. I don’t think he is going to fight anytime soon and with that being said, I want to fight the best guys,” said Beneil Dariush in his interview with FirstSportz. Beneil Dariush was very frank with his answer about a potential matchup against McGregor.

Beneil Dariush will fight #9 ranked Mateusz Gamrot in a lightweight bout for three rounds or less on the main card of UFC 280. The fight is set to take place at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi this weekend.
