Surging contender Beneil Dariush will face Charles Oliveira in May for a potential No.1 contender fight. In his stages of preparation for the fight, Islam Makachev posted about his desire to fight Leon Edwards for the Welterweight Championship. Dariush has not taken kindly to it and told Submission Radio what he feels about it.

Dariush said, “I don’t understand. Like, what about title defenses? I don’t know what is going on with him. Why? Maybe he is having a hard time making weight at 155 and he’s just like, ‘eh, let us just go to 170 and relax’. Honestly, I do not get it, but I think he needs to focus on his division. There is a lot of good fighters in his division. Maybe, in my opinion, the best division. So, I don’t know why he is trying to run off to other divisions.”

Beneil Dariush is on an eight-fight winning streak with wins over Drew Dober, Tony Ferguson and Mateusz Gamrot. He will get the next title shot if he can get past Charles Oliveira in May. Charles Oliveira is coming off a title loss to Islam Makachev at UFC 280.

On the other hand, Islam Makachev will look to fight when the UFC returns to Abu Dhabi later this year. Makachev is the biggest Muslim star in the UFC. Whenever the fight card goes to Abu Dhabi, UFC has their biggest Muslim fighter in the main event. Earlier, it was Khabib Nurmagomedov who was in the main event. The torch has now passed to Islam Makachev.

Beneil Dariush is on an eight-fight winning streak right now, but the winning streak was once in danger at UFC 248. He fought another prospect Drakkar Klose in a Lightweight bout.

Dariush controlled the first round with his grappling skills but could not get the submission. In the second round, Klose started landing big shots, which wobbled Dariush and almost knocked him out cold. However, Dariush could stay composed and counterstrikes to wobble Klose and knock him out cold.

Joe Rogan and Daniel Cormier were astonished. From the verge of defeat, Dariush did not roll over. Instead, he waited patiently to land the counters and claim the best comeback win in 2020.
