UFC lightweight contender Bobby Green found himself in a difficult situation after Dan Hooker withdrew from their upcoming fight. The duo were scheduled to compete in a five-round fight at UFC Austin. With only eleven days till the contest, Green took to social media to challenge his fellow lightweight fighters.
Bobby Green emphasized his readiness to step up on short notice in a video posted on X. He challenged the entire lightweight roster, citing his own history of taking battles with little preparation. This is what he had to say:
I want to see who’s gangster like me. I fought on 10 days’ notice. I went on two weeks’ notice. I done made weight, passed the f*ck out, my lungs collapsed and everything on two weeks’ notice. I done did it all.Bobby Green via Instagram
Several fighters have already shown a desire to fill the position. Rafael dos Anjos, the former lightweight champion, has volunteered to fight in his backyard at either 165 or 170 pounds. Jared Gordon, who previously fought Green in April, simply stated also volunteered to take on the challenge. Terrance McKinney also threw his name into the mix, saying it would be an honor to fill in against Green on short notice.
The lightweight division is once again in the limelight as the UFC actively seeks a replacement for Dan Hooker at UFC Austin. Athletes have to take some time and weigh the dangers and advantages of taking a short-notice match.
Bobby Green takes aim at Arman Tsarukyan
Bobby Green, aka “King,” has made it clear that he was tired of battling “boring fighters,” especially lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan. Green has lately gained traction with excellent wins against Tony Ferguson and Grant Dawson in 2023.
Green was scheduled to face Dan Hooker, but Hooker withdrew due to injury. This has opened up a spot for the co-main event versus green. On the other hand, Green has indicated reluctance to face certain fighters, particularly ones he considers uninteresting. Green stated this in an interview with The Schmo:
A lot of people are saying that they want to get down now all of the sudden that I’m hot. Would I want to fight those guys? That Arman guy is fucking boring. I can’t stand watching him fight. Every time I’ve watched him fight, I go to sleep. Then he calls out, ‘50 g’s! Dana, give me 50 g’s!’ I’m like, ‘For what?! What did you do? That was terrible.Bobby Green via The Schmo
Green’s open disclosure adds a layer of interest to his future opponents. Fight fans will surely be interested to watch how the UFC matches him up in the future, given Green’s passion for contests that enthrall both him and the fans.
