UFC 289 featured the bantamweight title fight between Amanda Nunes and Irene Aldana. One main attraction of the fight card was hometown hero Mike Malott. Malott is a rising star and the hottest prospect in the Canadian MMA scene. His entrance became electric with an excited Canadian audience. However, it had a dangerous moment when fans fell through stands during Malott’s entrance.

As Malott entered the arena towards the octagon, the video showcased fight fans falling after the barricade failed to hold them. Malott continued to walk towards the octagon in order not to hamper the PPV. However, social media got wind of the clips and has circulated worldwide. A fall is a fall, but it can sustain some minor injuries to those fans.

On the other hand, Mike Malott fought Adam Fugitt in front of Canadian fans. Malott has emerged from the shadows and remains the best Canadian prospect in the UFC. He has high-level wrestling and grappling. If he can improve his striking, he can climb up the rankings of a stacked welterweight division. The welterweight division has elite fighters like Leon Edwards, Shavkat Rakhmonov, Belal Muhammad, Colby Covington, and Gilbert Burns.

At this stage, Malott may not be able to compete against them. However, there is room for improvement, and the Canadian fighter will work hard to improve his striking to achieve his dream of becoming a UFC champion. He defeated Fugitt with a guillotine choke in the second round. The Canadian fans who fell through the barricade can enjoy it now that their hometown hero won the fight.
