“Beat Dustin faster than Khabib”- Chael Sonnen draws a fascinating comparison between Charles Oliveira and Khabib Nurmagomedov

Chael Sonnen bought in the facts to show what a possible fight between two of the greatest Lightweights might look like
Ever since UFC 274, the championship resume of Khabib Nurmagomedov and Charles Oliveira has been put under intense scrutiny with constant comparisons being made, a fact that is helped by having two of the same opponents in each of their defenses. The Gad Guy from West Linn Oregon, Chael Sonnen jumped into the discussion today, offering us a very Chal Sonnen insight on the fantasy fight.
Sonnen, took to his youtube channel with a video titled, “Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Charles Oliveira” and got straight to the point. He stated that the fight was a sparing discussion in online forums for now but soon the topic has the potential to be “hot”. Comparing the two resumes Chael Sonnen said straight off the back that he saw Khabib’s victory over Dustin and Justin to be an easier performance for the Dagestani when compared to Charles Oliveira’s outing with the two.
Chael however put out the facts before, saying “Charles beat Dustin Poirier 61 seconds faster than Khabib did. Charles beat Justin Gaethje 4 minutes faster than Khabib did, that’s true” saying he watched all four fights and came to the conclusion that Khabib had an easier outing despite the extra time it took for him to finish his opponents. Stating the numbers being against him Sonnen stood on his statement saying, “It did seem as though for Khabib, even if he took his time, mauled and dominated in a much different fashion, that’s my true opinion”
Chael Sonnen believes there is a chance for Khabib Nurmagomedov to return to fight Charles Oliveira
Giving Charles credit he went on to present more numbers by mentioning Charles has won 11 of his last 11 fights calling the achievement “jaw-dropping, mind-blowing, pat on the back- Great” but stated the puzzle only gets more confusing when we add in Khabib’s achievements who did it 29 times.
Chael then said making Conor McGregor to be Charles’ next opponent will only fuel these comparisons as now the pair would have near-identical resumes, spare the bout when they each gained their title. Chael then said that the bout was not just a fantasy bout alluding to the fact that Khabib had mentioned that he’d make a return to the octagon if Conor managed to defeat his teammate Islam Mackachev, Sonnen is of the belief that the same can be extended to Charles Oliveira if he defeats Islam, a bout that is most likely to happen next.
However for that to happen Chael believes Charles needs to bring up the same numbers he did to fuel Khabib out of retirement, something he doesn’t believe aligns with the person Charles is.
