Chael Sonnen reveals the current problem with the UFC lightweight division. The UFC lightweight division is currently in a mess and nobody knows what’s going to happen in future. At UFC 274, Oliveira was stripped of the championship and Justin Gaethje lost his chance to win the title.

Other title contenders such as Beneil Dariush and Islam Makhachev have yet to fight each other in order to see who comes out at top. Dariush is currently recovering from his ankle injury and the UFC is not letting Makhachev to fight against Oliveira for the title.

On top of all this, Oliveira called out Conor McGregor for a fight in his UFC 274 post fight interview. And surprisingly, the ‘Mystic Mac’ showed interest to fight for the title.

Sonnen recently posted a video on his YouTube channel where he spoke about the future of the UFC lightweight division, potential winner of the Makhachev vs Oliveira fight, if that ever takes place etc.

While talking about the lightweight division Sonnen revealed that the top title contenders are not confident and are putting everything on the table. The former UFC superstar explained that lightweights are scared that McGregor can come at any point and take the title shot and nobody can stop him from doing that. But according to Sonnen, fighters should speak up and fight for their position as there is a chance and it should be taken.

“Maybe when they all get done screaming, maybe one of the hesitations that they have why they don’t want to be heard, why they don’t put those aces on the table is they are afraid Conor’s gonna swoop in and take it all away anyway. It’s a little bit of a perplexing spot at a 155 lbs. But there’s a job, there a job opening. If you are going to apply for the job, fill out your resume, raise your hand and speak the hell up” said Sonnen.

McGregor is the biggest draw of UFC and the promotion will happily give him the title shot against Oliveira in future. It might seem a little unfair but the possibility of it happening isn’t that low. Anyways, fans would strom into the stadium to see ‘The Notorious’ regardless of anything.
