A Virginia jury ruled in Johnny Depp’s favor in his defamation lawsuit against ex-wife Amber Heard on Wednesday. Depp filed a defamation lawsuit against ex-wife Heard for a 2018 op-ed she penned for The Washington Post, asking $50 million in damages. Chael Sonnen had a few thoughts about the same.
Heard allegedly defamed Depp in the op-ed, according to Depp. The decision backed up his argument that Amber made-up claims about Johnny abusing her before and during their brief marriage. Amber defamed Johnny by claiming to be a victim of domestic abuse, according to the jury’s unanimous ruling.
Depp was deemed defamed by Heard in the essay, and a jury gave him $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive penalties on Wednesday. The decision backed up his argument that Amber made-up claims about Johnny abusing her before and during their brief marriage. Amber defamed Johnny by claiming to be a victim of domestic abuse, according to the jury’s unanimous ruling.
The radical stance of Chael Sonnen in the Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard case
In light of the trial’s cultural impact and significance, The former three-time UFC title challenger said in a recent episode of his YouTube Channel Bad Guys Inc.
He said, “What I share with you that I do think people are happy with this outcome as a broad stroke, it’s why I predicted that Johnny was going to win. Becasue don’t forget, if you’re in front of a judge who understands the law, there was not one single – and you can go through it line by line – there was not one single thing that Heard did that was not protected by the constitution. There was no crime there!”
He also stated that the unanimous decision goes to Johnny Depp as a satire to indicate his victory which he attained unanimously by the jury.
