My son is over there shadow boxing… I say ‘Francis, not in front of my son.’ Francis looks over and sees my son. Not a word did he say. Respect… That was a gentleman move by him. I look at him differently now.

Chael Sonnen wonders why Jorge Masvidal keeps getting into controversy with him

Sonnen believes that threats of bodily harm from Masvidal have their roots in the verbal dispute last year. ‘The Gangster’ sternly hoped ‘Gamebred’ should consider the idea of Chael sending him away on a stretcher in self-defense. The two MMA icons have kicked their media melee up a notch. Sonnen suggested that Masvidal had dusted off his hostilities to avoid a potential return match against Diaz down the line.

Masvidal and Sonnen launched their rivalry after Sonnen’s spat with Ariel Helwani. ‘Gamebred’ unleashed a tirade of passionate trash talk on Sonnen and aligned with the host. The conflict escalated further on social media between the two retired fighters. Masvidal eventually threatened to confront Sonnen in person.
