Diego Lima is Charles Oliveira‘s coach. He revealed why Oliveira took up Arman Tsarukyan for the UFc 300 bout despite talks of a potential rematch with lightweight title holder Islam Makhachev. Talking to Sherdog, Diego Lima said: 

Charles fought last time in June last year, Islam [Makhachev] is returning in the second half of the year. We couldn't go more than a year without fighting. 'Ahh but Arman [Tsarukyan] is tough.' Which easy opponent has Charles fought? Go to Tapology and look at his opponents… He's never been weak and never will, that's why he is who he is, and that's why he's real, and that's why you like him, it's never been easy.

Islam Makhachev and Charles Oliveira fought at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi in 2022. They headlined the PPV, competing for the vacant UFC lightweight championship.
