Chris Curtis has fought in over 40 professional MMA bouts. Curtis does not duck anyone and remains open to fighting anyone at any time. As such, Curtis took his upcoming fight against Brendan Allen despite not having enough time to prepare for it. The ‘Action-Man’ detailed about his fighting philosophy ahead of UFC Vegas 90.

Chris Curtis is a close friend of Sean Strickland. The former middleweight champion has an intriguing philosophy about money and fighting. During the UFC Vegas 90 pre-fight press conference, Curtis also spoke at a similar length about fighting and money.

I deeply enjoy money. I will do awful, awful things for money when you offer to pay me and I love to fight. I love to fight more than anything else. I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again: I’d rather fight than f**k, honestly. This is what I do.”

Curtis said he felt empty inside without a fight. He will now headline the card for the first time since entering the UFC in 2021. Brendan Allen was initially supposed to fight Marvin Vettori, but the fight got canceled because of Vettori’s injury. Curtis could not turn down the opportunity to fight a ranked opponent like Allen. The UFC generally pays fighters well for short-notice bouts. As such, it was too tempting of an opportunity for Curtis to turn it down.

Brendan Allen has only ever lost twice in his UFC career and is currently on a six-fight winning streak. Curtis could become a ranked contender with a win. Furthermore, his stock would go up if he snaps the impressive winning streak of Allen. In a way, Allen has more to lose from a loss than Curtis.

Chris Curtis is excited for Brendan Allen’s career in the UFC

This is not the first time Chris Curtis and Brendan Allen are squaring off in the octagon. The only two UFC losses of Allen’s career came against the ‘teammate duo’ of Sean Strickland and his best friend Chris Curtis. Their last fight ended in a TKO loss in the second round.

Ahead of the UFC Vegas 90 bout, Curtis praised Allen for putting on an impressive winning streak. Curtis cited the age of Allen and believed great things were in store for the 27-year-old middleweight star.

Brendan’s 27. My god, I wish I was 27. At 27 years old, I can’t imagine the things he’s going to accomplish in this sport.

The statement of Curtis holds weight as Allen has not even entered his prime at 27 years of age. Most fighters enter their prime in the early thirties. As such, Allen has the potential to become a perennial contender in the middleweight division. However, Allen’s further ascension in the middleweight rankings will depend on whether he avenges his loss from UFC Vegas 44.
