Cody Garbrandt vs TJ Dillashaw is a rivalry that has been built up over the years and can sometimes become very personal. But how did we get here? Why exactly do these two hate each other so much? Former champion Cody Garbrandt returns to the octagon at UFC 285. The fighter on his media day was asked about rival TJ Dillashaw calling retirement after his loss to Aljamain Sterling. “No Love” believes TJ has taken the ‘Conor McGregor USADA retirement‘. The UFC 285 fighter slyly took a dig at both his former rival and the superstar for taking steroids.

Before USADA there was very little to no rule or screening for drugs among athletes. It was a complete pandemic for drugs in the sport of MMA. The introduction of USADA brought the career to a halt of many superstars of this sport and many fans lost their faith in their fighter of choice.

When TJ Dillashaw tested positive for EPO, Cody Garbrandt was sure that he was not getting the trilogy that he wanted with TJ. USADA suspended him for two years after traces of recombinant human erythropoietin were found in his system. He even went on Twitter and made a post about TJ Dillashaw’s failed drug test. He then went on to call out TJ for showing the whole team how to do certain steroids during his time training there.

TJ Dillashaw delivered an absolute slaughter against Cory Sandhagen in UFC Vegas 32 this sparked a little fire inside of Cody as the trilogy fight may still have a chance of happening between the two rivals. In their first clash, Cody Garbrandt and TJ Dillashaw finally came face to face at UFC 217. Come time to rumble, Dillashaw made Garbrandt and Team Alpha Male pay for all the smack they’ve been talking about him behind his back.

TJ Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt fought back at UFC 227 with their roles now changed. Cody Garbrandt had the opportunity to prove himself but instead, he would suffer a devastating loss that would send his career into limbo.

This might be a chance for them to put an end to this rivalry and the fans might get a really good fight out of this trilogy. It all depends on the UFC and Dana White making this fight happen.
