Colby Covington recently claimed that UFC top management cannot trust Khamzat Chimaev. Covington’s statement raised questions about the relationship dynamics within the UFC.

Colby Covington‘s comments suggested a lack of trust between Chimaev and UFC management. In a recent interview with ESPN MMA, Covington stated:

They were looking at setting up that fight with that mother******, Khamzat Chimaev but he's unprofessional. He's a clown. He's out there laughing when he's missing weight by 10 pounds, making a fool of this publicly traded, beautiful company of the UFC, making a fool.

Khamzat Chimaev missed weight by 7.5 pounds for his welterweight bout against Nate Diaz at UFC 279. This put the fight in serious jeopardy. Some fans speculated that the entire event might have been scripted to generate attention. This wasn’t the first time Chimaev faced weight issues, as he previously missed weight by a few pounds as well. Despite these challenges, Chimaev’s coach expressed confidence in his ability to compete at 170 pounds. Khamzat Chimaev addressed his upcoming surgery after UFC 294

Khamzat Chimaev will undergo surgery due to an injury sustained in his UFC 294 fight against Kamaru Usman. Chimaev suffered a torn hand ligament during his fight. Reportedly, Chimaev believes the injury occurred in the first round when controlling Usman on his back and being slammed.

Despite the setback, Chimaev remains determined. He vowed to come back and ‘smash’ somebody in his UFC return. In a recent Instagram live, Chimaev said:

I’m going to do a surgery, operation in one, two weeks. After that, do the recovery, come back, smash somebody.

Dana White stated that Chimaev had personal issues contributing to his extended absence from the UFC.
