“I’ve had death threats!” Colby Covington calls out Ian Garry’s ‘tough act’ after muting replies from fans over wife controversy

Recently, Ian Garry faced numerous controversies surrounding his name. One such thing was due to a book written by his wife, Layla Machado Garry, better known as Layla Anna-Lee. After getting trashed by the public and the media, ‘The Future’ went private on X and disabled comments on Instagram and X. Now, Colby Covington bashed Garry for this move and called him a ‘sensitive soy boy.’

Colby Covington doesn’t hold back from anyone, so he criticized Ian Garry for going private on X and disabling comments on social media. Garry went private after a heated controversy surrounding a book written by his wife, Layla Anna-Lee. Here is what he said:

I’ve had death threats, bombings, like…People wanted to kill me after Brazil. I never turned off my social media. I never turned off my comments. Look at that little Ian Garry. He’s turning off his comments like a little fu****g sensitive soy boy. So, you know, he ain’t tough. He ain’t the biggest and baddest fu****g fighter in this division. The guy is a fu****g joke.

Layla Anna-Lee authored a book called ‘How to Be a WAG.’ It was an instructional book on how to become the wife or girlfriend of high-profile athletes. Although the book was penned more than a decade ago, it received the spotlight recently as the book exactly replicated Anna-Lee’s relationship with Ian Garry, a rising MMA fighter. Also, Garry’s nutritionist being Anna-Lee’s ex-spouse and Garry’s name change just sparked more controversy.

Ian Garry muted comments from the public as he received too much hatred from the public. Now, welterweight title contender Colby Covington bashed him for hiding from the public’s eye. They both would be seen at the UFC 296 pressers in about a week. As such, fans speculated that Garry awaits verbal carnage from ‘Chaos.’

Colby Covington faces Leon Edwards for the welterweight title in UFC 296. Despite not fighting for over a year, the UFC favored ‘Chaos’ for the matchup ahead of top contenders. But, the favoritism wasn’t the case for Covington a few years back. Covington was on the verge of losing a contract negotiation with the UFC as they weren’t about to sign him after his fight with Demian Maia in 2017.

Colby Covington dominantly beat Demian Maia and unleashed his fight persona for the first time on live television. As such, he degraded the Brazilian crowd in an attempt to become a controversial figure. He succeeded, and the UFC signed him back due to his rise in fame. Although Colby Covington was 7-1 in the UFC before his fight with Demian Maia, he was denied a contract. This indicated the characteristics of the UFC as a fight promotion. As such, according to Covington, this act saved his career. Currently, ‘Chaos’ has fought for the title twice against Kamaru Usman and failed on both attempts. Now, he has his third shot at the title in UFC 296.
